Legendary Live Stream lets fans visit the TDKR Red Carpet Premiere
The Dark Knight Rises had its world premiere tonight in New York, the real Gotham City, at AMC Lincoln Square Theater which will go into full release July 20th.

Actors Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman as well as director Christopher Nolan, brother and co-writer Jonathan Nolan, composer Hans Zimmer and others dazzled on the red carpet.
“Yeah, it’s bittersweet, but I think though that Chris is such a good storyteller, if he says it’s the right time to finish, it’s the right time to finish,” Bale told E! News at the premiere. “It’s nice to leave when we’re out on top instead of leaving people wanting less.”
Fans who were unable to attend in person could enjoy a live video stream on the Legendary Pictures website. Some of the twitter feed focused on early negative reviews at Rotten Tomatoes (“This is why we can’t have nice things”) but most fans were focused on the celebs, and certainly the fashions. Some of the women were understandably partisan on the relative merits of Anne Hathaway and Marion Cotillard.
“Anne Hathaway’s a vision in something white with a grecian back but didn’t catch the designer.”
“Figured the french woman would dress better”
“”Hate to be catty but Marion Cotillard is a fashion don’t on The Dark Knight Rises Premiere red carpet. Silhouette of a… paper doll?”
“yeah, not loving that white swan dress on her.”

While others noted Hathaway – delightfully long-haired in TDKR – now has her hair cropped uber-short for her next role as Fantine in Les Miserables.

Batman, Catwoman, Bane Character Posters, US and International release
There are two new trios of posters for The Dark Knight Rises, one for the U.S. market and one for International release. Those distinctions may have met something before the internet, but today, we all enjoy both. Christian Bale as Batman, Tom Hardy as Bane in a starker costume than the open tan trench we have seen, and Anne Hathaway in the regrettable goggles but with enough detail now showing in the texture of her costume that we see its similarity to Batman’s. Hmmm.
Maybe to make it up to her, there is one additional poster featuring Catwoman, from the knee down. Reowl.

In this, the second official TV Spot, we get a better look at the flying tumbler and Anne Hathaway in full Catwoman gear, but even naughtier and more splendid as Selina Kyle. Eight years after Batman took the fall for Two Face’s crimes, a new terrorist leader, Bane overwhelms Gotham’s finest, and the Dark Knight resurfaces to protect a city that brands him an enemy.

Warner Bros. Brass screens Dark Knight Rises Rough Cut | Hollywood Reporter

This Preview has been approved for Studio Brass
There is a lot of Dark Knight Rises news we don’t report no matter how much Twitter or Facebook action it gets, simply because there is no actual news beneath the headline, other than the fact that Christopher Nolan is making another Batman movie, which we knew. Seriously, if you’re our buddy and you were, say, a stuntman on the set and you saw Christian Bale or Anne Hathaway there, in costume, we’d buy you a beer. Even though you couldn’t tell us anything because of the NDA you signed, we’d still buy you a beer because, as a friend, we’d share your enthusiasm at this very exciting thing that happened to you. But we wouldn’t write an article about it because, see above, we already know Nolan is making this movie, we know Bale and Hathaway are playing Batman and Catwoman, and we’d kind of expect them to be on the set at some point in costume. It’s cool, but it’s not news.
Now, Hollywood Reporter is the movie trade publication and has enough real news to report that they seldom indulge in pointless non-news tidbits. The stories don’t always mean what they literally say, there are sometimes coded messages being transmitted or flat out misdirection in which HR are willing participants or innocent dupes. But the stories do usually mean something. Hence, despite the Captain Obvious bulletin that, at some point, the studio brass at Warner Bros. would want to see the movie in which a couple hundred million dollars is being invested, we bring you…
Director Christopher Nolan has completed The Dark Knight Rises.
Or a rough cut of it, at least.
Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Nolan on Friday presented his first cut of 2012′s most-anticipated film to top Warner Bros. executives, including film chief Jeff Robinov and production president Greg Silverman.
The movie doesn’t open until July 20, but Nolan has allowed himself plenty of time to fine-tune the film as he and the brass see fit. Sources say Nolan has been a fixture on the Warners lot during the past few days after finishing a monthslong shoot and editing process. The follow-up to 2008′s $1 billion-grossing The Dark Knight was filmed in locations as diverse as Los Angeles, New York, New Jersey and Pittsburgh as well as in parts of India and the U.K.
The movie opens a week after July’s Comic-Con convention, which Nolan has never attended. Nolan’s previous tentpole movies – Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and Inception – have opened before Comic-Con during their respective summers, but in light of the latest movie’s release date, speculation has already begun that this year will be different.

Liam Neeson “confirmed” in The Dark Knight Rises – kinda
The enthusiasm to be found on fan sites is a joy of this business, but it can create all kinds of confusion because fans and bloggers love to use journalist words when they “break a story” but they don’t really know how to use them the way journalists do. Consider the news that Liam Neeson has been “officially confirmed” as returning as Ra’s al Ghul in The Dark Knight Rises.
In June of 2011, Variety reported that he was would be: Liam Neeson back for ‘Dark Knight Rises’ but Warner Bros. wouldn’t comment. It was enough to put him on the Internet Movie Database page as “rumored.” When he was spotted near the location shooting in England, the rumors got a little more interesting, since it was at a location where, let’s say, Ra’s al Ghul should not be. We began to suspect maybe Mr. Nolan was playing a deeper game than the fans are giving him credit for. (Considering the number of them that still haven’t figured out Inception, we hold to our belief that none of the leaked facts and images fit together in the way they think.)
In January, it got interesting. Neeson Liam told something called “showbizspy.com”
“I can tell you nothing about Dark Knight Rises, seriously. I was on set for maybe an hour-and-a-half and the director didn’t tell me anything of what it’s about. So, I’m being very honest when I say I have no idea what’s going to happen.”
Now, translating that, he confirmed it was him on the set, which considering he was talking to some outfit called “showbizspy.com” was very big of him. At this point, we at Gotham Trending still wouldn’t discount the possibility that he was just invited to lunch by his old friend Nolan, just to mess with us.
But wait, now he is starring in Wrath of the Titans and the good chaps over at ComicBookMovies.com are all a-twitter because it says in the promotion materials:
“Neeson next appears in Peter Berg’s actioner Battleship, and he also will be seen in Christopher Nolan’s much-anticipated action thriller “The Dark Knight Rises.”
which they interpret as “official confirmation” that he “will be reprising his role as Ra’s al Ghul.”
We hate to throw cold water in anyone’s faces, but to a studio, the mere use of his voice in the first trailer covers that. This is Hollywood, there’s a union, there are rules. They use his voice from the first film, Warner Bros. cuts a check, and he’s in the credits, he’s in the film. Alas, we know nothing more than we did before. (Or, happily we know no more than we did before, because some of us really feel seeing the movie the first time is better that way.)
One thing is certain, we’ll only really find out in July.

Newest Stills from TDKR
Last week saw a few new stills from The Dark Knight Rises, touted as “the first view of the Batcave.” It isn’t exactly. But it’s Christian Bale in front of the Bat Suit in its case and Gary Oldman in front of a brown stoneish wall. Tom Hardy again. We think Bane is a promising villain but we can’t really see the fascination with another close up. Or another long shot for that matter. We get it. He’s… Bane.

Everyone has been excited about The Dark Knight Rises since the pre-production buzz started last January. Soon after the announcement of Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, the first fan poster appeared, and it was an absolute stunner, evoking all the sex appeal we’ve come to expect in Batman’s Feline Foe. Now that we have Tom Hardy, Bane, two official posters and trailers, and a plethora of set photos, the fan landscape has exploded. Evolve has selected its top picks for fan-made greats

The Dark Knight Rises Trailer featured on Best Movie Trailers of 2011 Lists
It’s no real surprise that The Dark Knight Rises trailer has appeared on virtually every Best of 2011 list, like the following from Film School Rejects. The combination of a late December release making it fresh in everyone’s mind, the salve it provided to the never-admitted disappointment of the Bane-centric prologue, the built-in hype which goes with being Christopher Nolan’s Batman, and the thrill of finally seeing not grainy photos and distant video but full images in the way they were meant to be seen, made it’s appearance a sure thing.

In IMAX, this trailer gave me chills. The first teaser did nothing for me, but this got my (along with everyone else around me) excitement level blasting during MI:4. The Dark Knight Rises trailer left my audience in silence. With the exploding football field and the cheesy action movie 101 line that is, “A storm’s coming,” this looks like Nolan going all cartoonishly and overly-seriously out, as portrayed by a suitably brooding and bombastic trailer. This is intended to be an epic conclusion, and epic is certainly an adjective one should use to describe this trailer. And, even with a brief glimpse and smile, Marion Cotillard stills wields the unholy power to make a jaw drop.

IndieWire has observed that the old National Association of Theater Owners (NATO) convention in Las Vegas has changed in more substantive ways than altering its name from ShoWest to CinemaCon. The change reflects the changed relationship between the Hollywood studios that present there and the theater-owners themselves. The neighborhood movie house has been reduced from the One and Only contact point between a movie and its audience to one of many options “now that consumers are demanding access to on-demand video content on multiple platforms.” With the change in distribution came a change in marketing. A movie like The Dark Knight Rises has so much life before and after those few weeks in the summer of 2012, it cannot be sold the way, say, Tim Burton’s Batman was in 1989. That leaves studios in a delicate position with theatre owners: still important but no longer the burning sun at the center of the marketing and distribution universe.
Naturally, with the most anticipated movie of 2012 on its docket, Warner Bros. was the first studio to announce its CinemaCon program:
