This has nothing to do with The Gotham Rogues or Bane’s assault on Gotham Stadium/Heinz field. We would have said it was a simple case of Nike Pro or Off the Bench standing next to the popular kid, using the interest in The Dark Knight Rises to bring a little of the spotlight their way for Phil Knight “Nike Pro Combat experiments” except this stuff really looks like the Dark Knight inspiration started back on the drawing board, not writing the press release. Check out the “liquid black metal finish”, “armored wing design,” and “chaine maille mesh” for the back, arms and sides.
Note: I’m pretty sure the wings aren’t an actual part of Oregon’s new Rose Bowl uniforms, but when it comes to Phil Knight Nike Pro Combat experiments, one never knows. Well, here you go Wisconsin: deal with this.
Liquid black metal finish. Armored wing design that will go under the shoulder pads (whatever that means). “Chain Maille Mesh” on the back, arms and sides. More views at Nike’s Facebook page (check out the helmet).
Oh, and the numbers will shift colors as the player moves.
Nike is based in Oregon and Knight, the company’s co-founder, former CEO and current chairman, is a Ducks alum. But he also graduated from the Stanford School of Business … you should see the wild suits those students wear.

There are a number of photos and video from a distance of Tom Hardy’s Bane at Pittsburgh’s Heinz Field doubling for Gotham Stadium in The Dark Knight Rises. These close-ups are much better.
Bane is evidently addressing the crowd at a football game with the Gotham Rogues are playing.

The Dark Knight Rises Gotham Stadium Video: Batman-Bane Melee
A video you haven’t seen from The Dark Knight Rises location shooting in Pittsburgh #TDKR
The Dark Knight Rises stars Christian Bale as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Tom Hardy as Bane, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Marion Cotillard, Joseph gordon-levitt, et al

“Oh yeah, we’ve got a couple other things going on too.”
Another impressive video from the weekend filming of The Dark Knight Rises Gotham Stadium/Heinz Field over the weekend, this time a Batman-Bane melee from Pittsburgh’s WPXI
Geekosophy has assembled an impressive collection of images and video from the weekend filming of The Dark Knight Rises in Pittsburgh over the weekend, specifically the explosive scene at Heinz field standing in for Gotham Stadium, home of The Gotham Rogues football team
Earlier we reported that Ben Roesthlisberger, as well as a couple of his friends from the Pittsburgh Steelers would take part in a scene for Chirstopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, well some photos and video have just been released detailing how exactly that scene may play out in the film. It goes without saying that the rest of this post contains massive spoilers for the film, so read at your own risk.
WPXI brings us this photo of how Heinz Field has been changed to suit the needs of the scene:
Some Redditor extras also managed to snap a couple of pictures while the set is filming, go here to see the full gallery:
Lastly, a fan somehow managed to sneak a camera on set (it looks higher quality than a cell-phone camera) and brings us this video of how the scene plays out:
The description reads:
After Bane [Tom Hardy] blows up the football field [check my other video for the explosion scene] when 86 of the Gotham Rogues [Hines Ward] runs to make a touchdown after the kick off [this is what we were told was going on during filming] he comes out to address and strike fear in Gotham [us]. The raised part you see is whats suppose to be left of the football field. He comes out and pulls the microphone from the dead? ref [which is just a dummy] on the ground outside the tunnel where he comes out with his thugs and someone he has prisoner. He also drags out some big crazy device thats supposedly the means of our destruction….i’ll annotate what he says becuz honestly [and you can hear me and my friend laughin about it with the mask he had on, mixed with his accident, mixed with how he was doing the voice it sounded like an old man with a respirator on. Not sure if that has anything to do with Bane’s medical background and drug experiments
They then go on to get some amusing mileage out of Bane’s voice, without considering the possibility that it was a put on. There is a lot that couldn’t be hidden from the public, but audio substitution is easy enough. In secrecy productions, fake dialogue has been recorded to conceal plot points even from the production crew and cast.
Pittsburgh’s Heinz Field is standing in for Gotham Stadium, home of The Gotham Rogues who will be played by The Pittsburgh Steelers. Running back Hines Ward will be playing himself.
The Dark Knight Rises is Christopher Nolan’s third and final installment of his Batman trilogy, starring Christian Bale (Batman/Bruce Wayne), Anne Hathaway (Selina Kyle/Catwoman), Tom Hardy (Bane), Gary Oldman, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, and other Nolan alums Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard, to be released by Warner Bros. July 2012
Heinz Field Transforms Into “Gotham Stadium” For Filming Of “The Dark Knight Rises” « CBS Pittsburgh
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Thousands of people were in the stands at Heinz Field Saturday for a very different kind of fan experience.
There were football players and lots of cheering, but no game was going on. Instead, it was the day of the much-publicized filming of a scene fir the new “Batman” movie.
The crowd cheered wildly for the black and gold in a big showdown at Heinz Field.
The event was a homecoming for former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Bill Cowher who returned to the sidelines with Hines Ward and Ben Roethlisberger.
But they are not wearing Steelers uniforms. They were part of a fictitious team called the Gotham Rogues using Heinz Field, or “Gotham Stadium” for the day, as a backdrop for the filming of “The Dark Knight Rises.”
KDKA’s Bob Allen reports:
“It’s kind of funny; it’s black and gold, they’re using the Steelers and everything. It’s going to be weird on screen,” said Matt Maranowski, who was hoping to catch a glimpse of the action from outside Heinz Field.
Some spectators could not get on the list to be one of the film’s 10,000 extras. But that didn’t stop them from standing outside the stadium.
“[I] just want to get in there and sit there and see the view because you can’t see anything from here,” said Batman fan, Michael Grabowski.
A week of filming at various locations in the city, and the Caped Crusader seems to be having a huge impact on Pittsburghers.
“I’ve always been a huge ‘Batman’ fan; and so, just to see how all this is going to work out in the movie, it’s just kind of cool to see so much of the city in the movie and stuff,” said Maranowski.
For many extras, today was a test of survival in the heat. Till Juettener had two friends cheering in the stadium.

Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, is calling for the big guns, a steel curtain perhaps.
Members of the NFL’s Pittsburgh Steelers team will be filming a scene in the film this weekend playing football players at Heinz Field.
Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and a dozen of his teammates, including Hines Ward, Willie Colon and Maurkice Pouncey, are expected to participate during Saturday’s filming. Thousands of extras will be on hand to play fans.
“I’m kind of getting everybody together,” Roethlisberger told a reporter on Friday. “I heard it’s going to be a neat thing at the stadium. I don’t think it will be a big part, it’s not like we’re chasing Batman down or anyting. It’s something neat that in 10 years or 20 years we can tell our kids we were in a movie.”
The Dark Knight Rises has been filming in the Pittsburgh area and has said they will make is snow as well.
“From what I’ve heard, it’s going to be like a pre-game, warming-up type thing,” Roethlisberger said. “I don’t know the whole concept. There’s a Gotham team, a football game. We’ll be wearing uniforms.”
Just another cool idea at the hands of Christopher Nolan.
The football team the Steelers will be standing in for are The Gotham Rogues. Those “attending the game” have been invited to post photos of themselves decked out in their team colors at http://www.facebook.com/thegothamrogues or tweet to @thegothamrogues
