The Dark Knight Concept Art illuminates dark origins of Joker’s Bank Robbery Gang

the-dark-knight-when-nolan-was-good-joker-concept-art

While posting these rarely seen pieces of concept art from “The Dark Knight,” that were created by Rob Bliss (“Watchmen”), I realized there was a segment of Christopher Nolan’s recent Q&A session that was pertinent and that I hadn’t yet posted. To catch you up, Nolan was at the Water Reade Theater in New York’s Lincoln Center as a special guest of the Film Society, he discussed working with Heath Ledger and specifically the filming of the opening scene where we are first introduced to Batman’s nemesis. You can either watch the video below or just read the transcript, both are provided.

Kim Kardashian Dons Sexy Burton-Style Catwoman Suit for Halloween

Can’t blame Kim Kardashian for wanting to dress as Catwoman for this year’s Batman-themed Halloween shindig when she went as Poison Ivy to a non-theme party last year.  Also can’t fault her for rejecting Christopher Nolan’s angry, bitter version of Selina Kyle in favor of the Michelle Pfeifer costume, sporting claws instead of a gun, and an attitude more befitting the queen of Gotham’s Night.

Kim Kardashian flaunted her best assets in a skin-tight Catwoman PVC suit. The reality star joined boyfriend Kanye West and her family for a Halloween bash at LIV at Fountainebleau in Miami Beach on Wednesday, October 31 night.

Kim was into the character so much that she posed for the photographers with her claws on and her lips pouted. She arrived at the party in a gold Lamborghini with Kanye who was dressed as Batman. Kim’s version of Catwoman is more of the design worn by Michelle Pfeiffer in 1992′s “Batman Returns” while Kanye kept his costume simple with a Batman mask and a balaclava to cover his face.

Dark Knight Rises Premiere married by mass shooting: 14 reported dead, 50 injured near Denver

mass-shooting-dark-knight-rises-premiere-denverBreakingNews.com, Mashable and MSNBC are reporting a mass shooting at a premiere screening of The Dark Knight Rises in Colorado.  Fourteen confirmed dead and 50 have been injured at a theater in Aurora near Denver,  according to numerous reports.

According to reports, a gunman opened fire at the theater, killing ten and injuring a minimum of 36, which have been admitted to a hospital. Four more individuals died at area hospitals.

Police scanners in Aurora stated that the a majority damage was caused by a bomb, not gunfire. Police found a potential secondary device in a parking lot. At this time, most major reports indicate that this was primarily a shooting, however, some witnesses have stated that they heard the sound of gunshots and “explosions.”

The most detail from AP here

AURORA, Colo. (AP) — A gunman opened fire early Friday at a movie theater in a Denver suburb, killing 14 people and leaving at least 50 other injured, Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates said.

The shooting occurred during a showing of the latest Batman movie “The Dark Knight Rises,” police said.

The violence erupted about 12:30 a.m. MDT as the gunman stood at the front of one of the Century 16 theaters at the Aurora Mall.

“Witnesses tell us he released some sort of canister. They heard a hissing sound and some gas emerged and the gunman opened fire,” Oates said at a news conference.

One suspect is in custody and there’s no evidence of any additional shooters, Oates said.

There was no immediate word of any motive.

Witness Hayden Miller told KUSA-TV that he was inside Theater 16 and heard several shots.

“Like little explosions going on and shortly after that we heard people screaming,” he told the station.

Hayden said at first he thought it was part of a louder movie next door. But then he saw “people hunched over leaving theater.”

Two people in critical condition were rushed to nearby Swedish Medical Center, spokeswoman Nicole Williams said.

She said emergency crews told her staff to prepare for several more patients from the shooting scene.

“We’re on standby to receive,” she said.

Aurora is located on the southeast outskirts of Denver, about 10 miles from downtown.

Legendary Live Stream lets fans visit the TDKR Red Carpet Premiere

The Dark Knight Rises had its world premiere tonight in New York, the real Gotham City, at AMC Lincoln Square Theater which will go into full release July 20th.

the-dark-knight-rises-premiere-christian-bale-anne-hathaway-morgan-freeman-gary-oldman

Actors Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman as well as director Christopher Nolan, brother and co-writer Jonathan Nolan, composer Hans Zimmer and others dazzled on the red carpet.

“Yeah, it’s bittersweet, but I think though that Chris is such a good storyteller, if he says it’s the right time to finish, it’s the right time to finish,” Bale told E! News at the premiere. “It’s nice to leave when we’re out on top instead of leaving people wanting less.”

Fans who were unable to attend in person could enjoy a live video stream on the Legendary Pictures website. Some of the twitter feed focused on early negative reviews at Rotten Tomatoes (“This is why we can’t have nice things”) but most fans were focused on the celebs, and certainly the fashions. Some of the women were understandably partisan on the relative merits of Anne Hathaway and Marion Cotillard.

“Anne Hathaway’s a vision in something white with a grecian back but didn’t catch the designer.”

“Figured the french woman would dress better”

“”Hate to be catty but Marion Cotillard is a fashion don’t on The Dark Knight Rises Premiere red carpet. Silhouette of a… paper doll?”

“yeah, not loving that white swan dress on her.”

While others noted Hathaway – delightfully long-haired in TDKR – now has her hair cropped uber-short for her next role as Fantine in Les Miserables.

Top Posts of the Week – Bane who? It’s all Bale, Bruce, Anne and Selina this week

Catwoman, Selina and Anne Hathaway have always been dominant terms in Batman-related searches, for reasons that should be obvious to anyone familiar with the character and the internet’s collective interest in beautiful and sexy women.  We’ve still never seen a complete shut out of Bane since the character was announced.  The balance shifts between Batman/Bruce Wayne/Christian Bale, Hathaway/Selina/Catwoman and Tom Hardy/Bane, and any picture or video pairing Bruce and Selina soars to the top of our popular posts.  But we’ve never seen Bane fall completely from the top 10, and the fact that a Joker t-shirt made it into the top 10 posts and  Riddler Converse was the highest ranking non-TDKR search, we’re starting to worry about the big guy’s self-image.

Clips from The Dark Knight Rises soundtrack, now streaming

the-dark-knight-rises-soundtrack

The CD liner for The Dark Knight Rises have been circulating for a few days now, fueling speculation based on titles. “A Storm is Coming” we heard Selina Kyle say to Bruce Wayne in one of the trailers, “Mind if I Cut In?” could allude to that dance. “On Thin Ice” could certainly allude to the ice fight between Bruce Wayne and Ducard in Batman Begins… but this is music. Words aren’t very illuminating. You have to hear it. And now you can. 30-second snippets from Hans Zimmers epic score is now streaming from “the sound cloud.”

Batman, Catwoman, Bane Character Posters, US and International release

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

There are two new trios of posters for The Dark Knight Rises, one for the U.S. market and one for International release.  Those distinctions may have met something before the internet, but today, we all enjoy both.  Christian Bale as Batman, Tom Hardy as Bane in a starker costume than the open tan trench we have seen, and Anne Hathaway in the regrettable goggles but with enough detail now showing in the texture of her costume that we see its similarity to Batman’s.  Hmmm.

Maybe to make it up to her, there is one additional poster featuring Catwoman, from the knee down.  Reowl.

The Dark Knight Rises unveils first TV Spots

In this, the second official TV Spot, we get a better look at the flying tumbler and Anne Hathaway in full Catwoman gear, but even naughtier and more splendid as Selina Kyle. Eight years after Batman took the fall for Two Face’s crimes, a new terrorist leader, Bane overwhelms Gotham’s finest, and the Dark Knight resurfaces to protect a city that brands him an enemy.
